Elijah Wood Will Hit Puberty In 'The Late Bloomer'

Elijah Wood is taking time out of his life as a manic depressive on FX Wilfred, to star in The Late Bloomer, about a man who goes through puberty at a much slower way than most people do.

Written by Joe Nussbaum, Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove, The Late Bloomer is exactly what it sounds like. It's based on Ken Baker's book Man Made: A Memoir of My Body of a man aged 30 who has a strange blood disease that does not allow him to go through puberty as a teenager. After he had a medical procedure done to him, he went through that "awkward stage" in just a few weeks.

First time feature director Randall Einhorn will lead this ship. He worked on shows such as Office, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, and Wilfred (with Woods).

Woods has always been a young actor looks (he just does not seem to age). That's why he makes such a big fucking Frodo Baggins, because it fits with the character of the child-like. If there are going to play people who are going through puberty at 30 years-old (and make us believe), it's him. Plus, he's got the acting down too, do not you think?

The Late Bloomer is being described as a genuine comedy. Einhorn has been working on a bunch of funny TV show, so we'll trust him, for the moment, and said that he would be able to provide the records.

Besides Wilfred, Woods can further be seen in Peter Jackson, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in December, a remake of Maniac, in which he played a psycho killer, and Grand Piano indie thriller with John Cusack.

Production for The Late Bloomer start this coming January.
What do you think? Frodo could pull it out of one?
