Arctpedia: Serving Glam at ‘The Hobbit’ NYC Premiere
Middle-earth is looking mighty fine!
Liv Tyler, Martin Freeman and Elijah Wood were all stunning at The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's NYC premiere Thursday night. And while the cast is undoubtedly talented, director Peter Jacksonis predicting some snubs this Oscar season.

"I wish it was a year where we could celebrate Ian McKellen as supporting actor, or Martin Freeman—or Andy Serkis, for that matter—as a supporting actor," Jackson told Entertainment Weekly. "The acting awards seem to elude us, at least for these types of films. I don't know why."
That might end up being the case, but Martin,
who plays Bilbo Baggins, already feels like a winner. "I'm geek royalty now," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "That's the main responsibility. It's not playing Bilbo, it's my responsibility as a geek prince."
You can judge for yourself whether The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey deserves some Academy Awards love—and whether Martin is indeed the new nerd prince—when the film hits theaters Dec. 14.
